Use my network for free

Use my network for free - I don't use encryption on my wireless internet connection since I have nothing to hide. - I help people in my neighborhood get online. - I have so much bandwidth that I don't use so feel free to use my network. - I want to use others wireless network for free when I'm out so I let people that passing by my house use my network.

All these statements have a sort of higher cause and are almost religious.

But think about this:

• If someone uses your network to send numerous of emails, SPAM, Would you approve and think that's OK?
• If someone uses your network for illegal activities, Would you approve and think that's OK?
• If kids uses your network to harass other kids, Would you approve and think that's OK?

Others would certainly things that when you don't take measures against misuse, you deliberately help the ones that sabotage Internet or help individuals to perform illegal or inappropriate activities on the Internet.

If you want to share your internet connection and be able to use others connections you may consider join networks like FON instead of having your network open for everybody.

Use LANeye to detect and prevent misuse of your internet connection.

Use encryption on your wireless router. That will prevent people that just passing by to hook up to your network and use it for what ever purpose.
